I am Nea, and I endorse this message: 56 Things You Can Toss Out Now. (Check the links at the bottom too. Courtesy [livejournal.com profile] homekeeping, that wonderful and somewhat life-changing community.)

For those who follow the Clutter Chronicles, (ooo, I may have a new tag name), there hasn't been a Sunday 7 because of the surprisingly severe readjustment to life with the new job. It's about all I can do to keep up with normal cleaning. Next week won't be any better, but I'm hoping that the week after that things will have settled down into the new normal routine.

On the fannish side of things, I also endorse [livejournal.com profile] persiflage_1's discovery of the glory of Harry Sullivan (the first doctor to be dissed by the Doctor), with the two crackalicious vids linked.

Top-posting what I've said in comments. (Watch how fast I get defriended by [livejournal.com profile] robshearman!)

So. Russell T Davis had an interview in the SFX Doctor Who extravaganza magazine (which I'd like to read in its entirety sometime. The magazine, not just the interview.) The bit that's hitting the web and being picked over in several blogs is this )

I've already taken a shellacking for what I've said about spoilers for Fragments ) But I can't stay silent because the whole The Gummit Is Evil 'Cause It's The Gummit X-Files sensibility has always made me crazy. It makes me crazy when the actions in Fragments gets a free pass, and it makes me crazy now.

Note: although about a British show, this is going to be a fairly American-centric rant, and why not? RTD's stealing from American TV.

You can be angry at the Government for what it does. (Iran & Guantanamo) You can be angry at it for what it doesn't do. (Katrina & the non-rebuilding of New Orleans) That's our Constitutional and Democratic Republic-given right, to have our opinions and peacefully seek redress. But for the love of little green fish and logic, don't be angry at the Government for existing unless you're willing to back that up by living entirely off the grid in a homemade shack somewhere.

How full of fail is that quote? Let me count the ways. )

This isn't going to end with a bit about how this has utterly harshed my squee for the next season or New Who entirely, because I expect to squee like a bat over next season and New Who entirely. But loving it doesn't mean that I'm blind to faults, and it certainly doesn't mean that I'm going to shove a crochet hook in my left ear to yank out my grasp of classic canon, basic world history history, and logic just to applaud Chris Carter's Russell T Davis' notion of the military.
