After updating
soniclipstick and writing the Firefox News report on the new Torchwood season and putting "No Rest for the Wicked" on Teaspoon, too tired for an essay. So you get a poll followed by some random commentary and thoughts.
Media*West was a reminder that screennames = real names for a large section of the people I hang with these days, and that reminds me that I'm still a bit wistful about not having some Sekrit Identity - not that I want to go back to my original LJ name, which is even harder to yell across a room than
neadods. And the idea of picking up "nushu" got shot down pretty definitively last year.
However... a quick search shows that nobody has taken another possible name. "Neyha" is a Hindi name that just happens to be pronounced almost exactly like "Nea." And in a choice between having an extra "h" thrown into the nickname I've used for 20 years and being called "knee-ah," (as many people reasonably do when they've just seen it spelled) I'd strongly prefer the H. Also, it's easier to say than "neadods" all in one phrase.
No, I'm not Hindi, but as was pointed out the last time I was looking at other names, there are few traits more American than going "Shiny! I'm gonna do that too." I found out about the name when I was in a class with an Indian classmate, who kept calling me "Neyha." (And it was worlds better than the French classmate at the same time who kept pronouncing "Linnea" as "Linear.")

Random Commentary:
Why are the Lantern Moon 16-inch circular needles at least an inch and a half shorter than the Clover 16-inch circular needles?
Mike Shanks says in the post-show interview that he finds it hard to act without someone to interact with. So I'll accept that as the reason behind his interpretation for the new Big Finish SG-1 audios and not say that he phoned it in. Long distance. Collect.
