Stitches, Book Thing & an Apology
Nov. 8th, 2008 07:26 pmBusy Saturday!
First off I went to my last huzzah at Stitches East, as they're redefining East as "Connecticut" next year. (They're also opening a Stitches South in Georgia.) Making it a bugger to get to in any direction, at least for me. Unless there's a road trip - and between
fandance,
tchwrtr,
faireraven and more, a road trip is not entirely out of the question. But I digress.
( The details, for knitting folk )
After 5 hours there, it was off to the Book Thing. There was also a book fair at work; between the two of them, I have five bags of books to go through and put away tomorrow. Although both have a surprising lack of ( my favorite form of mental floss. )
I'm supposed to be at the Boogie Knights concert even as I type this, and that's where the apology comes in - I'm sorry. I tried, and I still want to contribute to the charity. I drove down to the area where the concert was at 5:30, planning on finding a nice spot to park and just knit time away until showtime. But I couldn't find a place to park on the street, not for blocks around; I was circling like a shark and every street was so fender-to-fender on both sides that cars going in different directions had to give each other turns because there wasn't enough room. And while I had carefully set aside the money for the entry fee, I had spent everything else at Stitches and couldn't find an ATM in all that circling either, parking garages were not going to be the answer.
I came home with the vague notion of hitting the local ATM and getting a ride up with someone else, which would solve the money and the night-blind problems both at once. Only to discover that my possible rides were either not going or already going out the door with no time to spare.
Sorry guys. I hope the concert is a success.
