Jun. 14th, 2009 09:34 amThis morning, my washing machine developed an intermittent fault. I know it's not lack of water, because the two nanoseconds it worked, water poured. I know it's not electrical, because you can hear it hum when it's turned on. I know it's not a stuck drum, because it rotates freely.
At first I thought it was related to the mystery nozzle I found among the laundry I dug out of my clothing, but I can't find anywhere said nozzle would fit.
It's a 10-year-old Kenmore. I don't know if at this point I should call for repairs (M thinks it's probably a blown motor) or just replace it.
But if I replace it, I'm out of Writercon. The cost of a new machine = plane ticket and hotel. The budget simply won't let me stretch to both.
I'm looking for something used and I'll call the repair places and ask for estimates. But it's that tight.
ETA: Turns out, the problem is a broken door lock. No lock, no action. It's possible to kluge a solution with a weight and a prop, and it means I can go to the repair people with a specific "you need this part for this model."
No idea how much the repair will cost, but in the meantime, if a kludge saves the con, I'll take it!
