Between the new program, the "join free" offer, and New Year's resolutions, the line to Weight Watchers last night took 90 minutes to process. I ended up leaving before the official "getting started" lecture, but I have done WW before and the underlying premise seems the same, even if their math has changed. (Used to be you could figure your points out with a slide rule you got free in your intro package. Now it's a $19.95 calculator that comes extra.)

Still, I have all the swag necessary to play the home game - the intro package, the cookbook, the calculator, and the pedometer that translates your walking into points earned. All of which cost, so I was pretty darn surprised that the iphone app is free!

No, I don't intend to go back for meetings, despite what I said when I signed up. I don't see the need to pay $14 a week to chat. I do have an LJ after all!

And then there's the PJ debacle. Bitch, bitch, moan, whine )

But it's another chore to do instead of the wash and wear comfort I was expecting in the mail.
neadods: (sherlock)
You know how I've been wishing for a Sherlockian version of [livejournal.com profile] calufrax? Say hello to [livejournal.com profile] 221b_recs, a brand spanking new all-era Holmesian fic rec community. (Not for actual spanking, although god knows in this fandom.)

They're just getting pulled together, so go give 'em some love and support. The mods (and everyone else who watches the percentages on [livejournal.com profile] holmesian_news expect it to be overwhelmingly Sherlock but they don't want to cut anyone else out. (Besides, there'll be a Ritchie-version spike when the new movie comes out, guaranteed.)

Also, Baker Street Supper Club has a writeup of the Moffat-Gatiss interview about making Sherlock. I haven't read it yet, so I don't know if there are spoilers ETA: Have read it, only spoiler for the next season is the three "hint" words. (S2 starts filming in May! Squee!) What I have seen in a quick glance at the beginning of the writeup is a certain amount of "we slipped that thing in from canon, did you notice?" like the coffee Mark & John drink being from Criterion, that being the restaurant Stamford and Watson have lunch in during Study in Scarlet. And I hadn't noticed, so that is cool.

PS - I have determined that if one reads 3 chapters/short stories a week, you can get through the whole canon in a year. Hmmmm....

I'm not going to repeat the three code words in case anyone is a spoilerphobe, but canon's been around for a century or so, so are three words from it really "spoilers"? We don't know how they'll be interpreted.
