Resolutions and books post
Jan. 23rd, 2011 06:38 pmThis is a resolutions post, so if you're not interested, move along...
I've been going over my back resolution posts. How can I have accomplished so very much and yet have so much left to do? It's frustrating.
What I was looking for is an enumeration of the boxes of books that I culled out of the library the last time I did a big clearout. I know it was a large number. I wanted to see if I could equal that, because when I was looking around the library tonight I came to the conclusion that I could probably cull the books down by 2/3 without losing anything I really wanted and enjoyed.
Unfortunately, the *other* thing I want to do with books is get all my favorites in e-reader format, and that wasn't quite so good. It seems to be completely random what is or isn't available. I can get The Westing Game in epub, but not The Tattooed Potato (which I prefer.) The entire Anne of Green Gables series is up, but not Jane of Lantern Hill. Dragonriders of Pern and even Masterharper of Pern, but no Dragon Song or Dragon Singer. Late Margaret Fraser, but not early. Books about James Herriot, but nothing by James Herriot.
Speaking of Herriot, as an anglophile I'm absolutely hosed. No Lord Peter. No Miss Seeton. (No Mrs. Pollifax, either... but I can get the Gilman -- not you,
suricattus -- book I couldn't be nasty enough in the review about.)
I expected that some of the odder books in the collection -- old Trek tie-ins, for instance -- wouldn't be available. But no James Herriot? Why can I get The Irish RM but not Herriot?
