(no subject)

I have to admit, I took a certain grim satisfaction in listening to my Touch as I went to get paint this morning. I'm still realizing things that I want to put back onto it, but it's working again. I was able to sync without any fuss.

For the ipad... well, it still kept being recognized as a camera. What I had to do (( I'm leaving this out because the apple support pages are full of this question )

I did NOT update the software. I'm not daring to do that again until iTunes itself has had an upgrade and I've successfully upgraded the Touch. It's one thing to reinstall Tubso, which draws only from the iTunes library; it's quite another to run the risk of wiping Bissonomy back to factory settings when I must have 100 book samples on it that I don't want to refind and reload.

I must paint today, but at some point in the upcoming week, I want to do a mass fic rec; I must have 30 links saved off. And I want to epub them and get them on Biss/Tubso!

New An aging Sherlock story that will rip your heart out and stomp on it. Worksafe, but have tissues.

Practical Johnkeeping I. Love. This. Like. Pie. Another old-age fic, this time with a hilariously cranky aging Sherlock Holmes living with an equally aging-and-mildly-pissy-about-it John out in the country. Not worksafe.

From the Shaddicted tumblr, a macro that made me laugh like a hyena. Worksafe.

The Violet Elephant A canon-set story told from Lestrade's POV, in which Watson has kicked Holmes out of Baker St. for a few hours and Lestrade makes a few deductions of his own. Worksafe plot; does contain references to prostitution & sodomy (Lestrade thinking of cases)

Complexity Adorably sweet tentacle porn. Yes, you read that correctly. Yes, I really did just rec it. If you trusted me on the werewolf story, trust me on this... but don't open it at work.

The first of two multi-part Sherlock/Cabin Pressure crossovers in this post: Luton, or the Curious Case of the NotSherlock (Cabin Pressure is an audio comedy in which Ben Cumberbatch plays Martin Crieff, the wrapped-far-too-tightly pilot. Highly recommended.) This particular story focuses mainly on Martin/Molly, who really are made for each other.

Improbable Reality Seconding a fic rec for this one, wherein Moriarty has scrambled John's brain with hallucinogenics. Mycroft wants to put him in a home. Sherlock wants to find the cure. This is not as heartbreaking as the description makes it, actually.

This isn't a fic link, it's the link to a master list of 10 short fics about Watson's phone: Tales From a Lost Mobile It anthropomorphizes technology in a schmaltzy way, but I like it.

A Study in Sherlock An absolute MUST for John fans; an AU in which he solves the Study in Pink and kicks ass like the damnfine soldier he is.

The other Cabin Pressure crossover, in which Sherlock and Martin are half brothers who get along surprisingly well. Thicker than Water Complete in 9 parts (ignore the author discussing "stuff maybe to come" in the earlier sections); a sequel has apparently started.

Again repeating a rec-comm rec: Some of Your Time An AU where time really is money, and John has lost an hour he can't afford. Sherlock offers him the opportunity to earn more by doing deductions of his own. Worksafe, but it is nondescriptive slash.

A Life Well Lived in three parts. Sherlock finds out just why he's having a hard time seducing John. (Not worksafe) Could be triggery, but I found this a very realistic exploration of some of the issues in trying to establish a healthy relationship after unacknowledged abuse.
