How much of an adult do I have to be?
Jun. 12th, 2012 07:53 pmLong story short;
stratfordbabe is trying to find homes for the kittens she's rescuing. I'm going to go take a look Saturday and pick one out, to be delivered when it's old enough to to be tested for FIV. M keeps eyeing me askance. In part because of the Reba thing, but I argue there's a big difference between bringing a cat Gytha's age and size into her territory and bringing in a kitten.
But also in part because
stratfordbabe lives two states away. Yes, there are kittens closer, but she's a friend who's worried about them, the kittens are adorable, and I've got a car.
Does that use up my "impulsive actions" ration for a while?
Because the weekend *after* this one is The SherlockNYC trip to Gillette Castle. Private tour, lunch, fic reading. Roughly $50 for the whole shebang, plus travel costs.
I really, really want to go. It would be possible to drive myself if I start on Friday night. If I find a Motel 6 about half way I could do it inexpensively; if someone offers me a couch I could do it for dead cheap. (Really friggin' cheap if that someone wants to hop in the car and join me for the low low price of splitting the gas.)
That's a heck of a lot of driving two weekends in a row for frivolous reasons when I'm "supposed" to be working on renovating the kitchen/doing chores/cleaning up... I've been saying "No, I shouldn't" to myself for weeks now.
But I ask you, oh, LJ, when I've got the cash & the car and I haven't got firm deadlines, do I honestly need any other reason to go than "I want to?"
