PODCASTS:
I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere (Scott Monty & Burt Wolder)
http://www.ihearofsherlock.com/
The oldest of the Sherlock Holmes podcasts. Covers movie/TV/radio adaptations, Holmes related books (fiction & nonfiction), author interviews, and scion society events from the point of view of two men who have been Holmesians for a long time.
Baker Street Babes (Kristina, Kafers, Ardy, Turk, Jenn, Taylor, Lyndsay, Maria)
http://www.bakerstreetbabes.com/
The newest and fastest-growing of the Sherlock Holmes podcasts. Covers canon (from the perspective of people long familiar with it and reading it for the first time), movie & TV adaptations, interviews with anyone related to movie and TV adaptations, Holmes related books (fiction & nonfiction), interviews with authors and editors, meta about the differences between fannish generations and fans in different countries (The Babes are an international group), and more.
Great Detectives of Old Time Radio
http://www.greatdetectives.net/detectives/sherlock-holmes/
Adam Graham has collected a variety of old-time radio detective shows and runs a podcast with a different series every day. Thursday is Sherlock Holmes day. These half-hour shows date from the late 30s through the 50s and have variable sound quality. Mixing adaptations of canon with brand-new adventures, the overall setup is the same: a visitor comes and hears a story from the retired Dr. Watson, the both of them stopping to advertise the sponsor's goods. (In one of the 30s podcasts, Dr. Watson explains in very small words how to use instant coffee.) Although these old shows can be found at a variety of free download services, I think Adam brings added value by discussing ratings, actors, sponsors, etc. (I'm going to break the "no iTunes" rule here to point out that it is possible to subscribe to the iTunes feed for the whole show or on a "by detective" basis, and it's a lot faster to subscribe to the Holmes feed and click "get all" than it is to download each episode separately from the website.) NOTE: Original episodes will run out in the spring of 2013 and will not be repeated on the podcast, although they will remain available for download on the website.
Sherlock Holmes Society of London Podcast
http://www.sherlock-holmes.org.uk/podcast.xml
In 2009 and 2010, the Sherlock Holmes Society of London put out slightly over a dozen podcasts recorded by the Old Court Radio Theatre Company, the majority of which were adapted for radio by M.J. Elliot. This included 10 canonical stories, two new adventures, two non-Holmes detective stories written by Doyle and rewritten by M.J. Elliott to include Holmes, and a two-part audio adaptation of William Gillette's Holmes play.
I can't resist throwing in a shoutout to my favorite podcast. Although ostensibly a Doctor Who podcast, this one has covered a fair range of audio, including BBC Sherlock and Big Finish:
Staggering Stories
http://www.staggeringstories.net/audiopodcasts.html
Search this page for "Holmes" to find their podcasts on Big Finish or "Sherlock" for discussion of the BBC series.

BASIC AND FREE
There are two websites where volunteers read public domain fiction as unabridged audiobooks. The voice quality is what you'd expect from amateurs reading into a headset, but the readings are unabridged and free. NOTE: His Last Bow and The Casebook of Sherlock Holmes are still under partial copyright restriction in the United States and thus do not appear in free or inexpensive versions.
Lit2Go
http://etc.usf.edu/lit2go/authors/170/sir-arthur-conan-doyle/
has: Adventures, Memoirs, and Return of Sherlock Holmes, plus a handful of stories from His Last Bow. Also includes some of Doyle's other words, such as Beyond the City and The Mystery of Cloomber.
Librivox
https://catalog.librivox.org
Parts of Adventures, Memoirs and Return. At the time of this posting, A Study in Scarlet is partially uploaded.

Although there are no firm release dates or titles yet, Big Finish intends to record and release these new Holmes audios in 2013:
