Temperatures
Jul. 9th, 2012 06:57 amIt's going to be in the low 80s (F) this week... and the entire area is breathing a sigh of relief. The killing heat came early this year; it's been over a week of temperatures hovering between 98-106F, with 70-80% humidity... and for up to 5 of those days, hundreds of thousands of people didn't have electricity because of the derecho storm.
Anybody who talks about the privitization of utilities is Of The Good and how low taxes are more important than upgrading the infrastructure are welcomed to live without power for 5 days of this weather, waiting for the privatized utlity company to do its job.
To be honest, the 80s are going to feel a bit same old, same old: the air conditioning in the house is so old that the best it can do is take 20 degrees off what it is outside... which means that it's been the 80s *indoors* for the last fortnight anyway. May all blessings fall upon the person who invented the ceiling fan; mine is the only way I've been able to sleep.
