I'd like an extra week, please...
Nov. 21st, 2012 06:20 pmIt has NOT sunk in that tomorrow is Thanksgiving day. I still haven't packed for the con yet! (I've piled a lot of stuff up and stared at it, but I haven't actually put anything into a suitcase.)
One of the things that I want to do before I head out is shake up the contents of the little free library. I know I haven't been talking about it recently and I know people are interested, but actually keeping track of what's coming and going takes time I haven't had spare since the hurricane came through. I emptied it out during Sandy (despite several layers of bubblewrap, it still leaked), then threw a whole bunch of things in it just in time for Halloween in case the parents of trick or treaters wanted something. Then I overstocked it massively for the election. And now I'm about to head out of town.
However, one bit of news. The trivets have been keeping the books safe even after 24 hours of rain that brought water onto every shelf. However, I'm losing notebooks right and left, because I've been tucking them under the trivets. So I finally went out and bought a big hardcover notebook, wrote the "Library Rules"* on the front, and put it up on the trivet with the books. That should come through the weather as well as they do.
LIBRARY RULES:
If you want it, take it
If you like it, keep it
If you have one you're through with, bring it here
Swaps always welcome, never required
