So, I'm starting to kick around the prep work for my March presentation to the Tin Box, which is on canonical stories with plots that don't translate to modern times. (Yes, that will be a future pitch.) It's going to include Scandal, because hello, dynastic marriage. (Nobody focuses on Irene as blackmailer, ever notice that? It's always the sex or the slippery opponent angle or the love interest. But I digress.)

Anyway, all we know of Irene in Elementary is that she has been the textbook fridging - her death made S the man he is today and *is the direct reason why he met Joan Watson.*

Which makes me wonder how interesting it might have been to have called the character ”Mike Stamford."

I know I'm not the only one out there in LJ-land who's dealt with 1st/2nd burns at home, and I don't see a need to go back to the doctors to get blown off. So a little advice, please?

***REALLY GROSS TMI BELOW***YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED***

Two of three fingers are fading back to their proper color and no longer hurt. The one in the middle got crusty and dark red... and today when I tried to smear ointment on it, skin started pulling off. I got a brief flash of pink, very sensitive, but solid skin below, but it was really painful, I was freaking out, and I had to go to work, so I slapped a bandaid with antibiotics on the pad over the whole works and now I'm just kind of staring at the sticking plaster going... "now what?"

I'm not going to leave it to the air to slough off while working, eurgh. Also, unsanitary.

At home, I don't particularly plan on ripping off anything that isn't ready to come off on its own, but is there any way of making this natural debrideing process less painful for me? Soaking it in anything? Leave the bandaid on until Saturday morning and then yank off everything it sticks to with an almighty rip?

Who has done what to deal with their own burns?
