It was the oddest trip to the Book Thing - it was just stuffed to the gills with books on every subject; every shelf was groaning. And yet there were almost none of the sorts of things that I go there to get. No cookbooks of interest. No knitting books or magazines. No Holmes mysteries, or much of any other that interested me. Oh, I brought home a couple of bags, but it's 99.9% Little Free Library stock - children's classics mostly.

Sometimes, though, the early Book Thing bird gets some really nice editions:

So that's the acquiring. The storing... my library is bursting at the seams, and it's time to do a really serious cull. And I think that this time around the question in my mind will be: is this a lovely edition? Is it signed? Do I need this in paper at *all*? Because I think it's time to take some of the pressure off the bookshelves by shifting to ebooks.

This means rebuying stuff in some cases, which I'm against on principle, but Something Must Be Done. And frankly, in many cases if I regret this, I'll be able to score another copy at the Thing. It's a rare weekend when they don't have at least one copy of, say, All Creatures Great and Small.
