neadods: (contemplative)
Is it being lazy or realistic to give myself a day off? I mean, I had a fair amount of chores on my plate today - hang a couple of shelves, do the touch-up paint on the bathroom (and if I want that done at all soon I should do it now; weather will get too cold to have open windows next week), spit-shine my contractor resume. Maybe even repaint a vanity.

BUT:

Just for the record, yesterday? I stood (and I do mean *stood*) a 3-hour clinic shift in the morning and a 3-hour stint as a beer wench last night at Riversdale's Tavern Night and in between/also I potted a container garden of mint, sorted through three boxes of donated books, created a to-do list for the next Tavern Night, researched ways of painting cherry blossoms (on the bathroom vanity), discovered there was such a thing as straw painting, looked up the measurements of Ikea spice racks (also for the bathroom; they make good holder shelves), learned a new way of making 18th century shoes from thrift store finds (my co-wench had great garb!), and figured out a better way of storing my clinic gear.

In other words... I haven't done anything on the sprints, and that makes me feel guilty. But I HAVE been doing a lot, including a lot of standing, and I'm tired!

This is the kind of dilemma that put me in therapy, y'all. At what point do I earn time off when there are still things to be done?

PS - Beer wenches get to bring home leftovers. Any good recipe ideas for an Oatmeal Stout, IPA, or hard cider?
