I'm starting to get mailings for the next Jane Austen Society of North America big meeting (Mansfield Park in Montréal: Contexts, Conventions and Controversies) -- but even as I get tempted to go, I can't because I'll be off being a Sherlock Holmes fan part of that time!
I also started looking at their usual meeting dates, and discovered that I joined JASNA 3 years too late for the one I would have been wild to attend: "Jane Austen and the Abbey: Mystery, Mayhem and Muslin." (I *ADORE* that title!) It even had a breakout session led by a group calling itself Team Tilney! *waves Tilney flag*
Alas, although the 200th anniversary of the publication of Northanger is December 2017, the theme of the 2017 JASNA AGM is "Jane Austen in Paradise." 2018's theme hasn't been announced yet, and it would have been a mere 8 years since the 2010 Abbey session, but I can hope and dream, Catherine Morland-like, of the pleasures of my own shot at a Northanger-centric Annual General Meeting.
Certainly nothing is going to stop me from 2016's 'do -- Emma's anniversary, and in my own back yard!
