NaNoHmmMo

A bunch of folks on the f-list are starting to talk about NaNoWriMo - whether they plan on signing up, that they've signed up, what they've done in past Novembers.

I love the idea, I just don't want to write a novel. What I can't decide is if I want to sign up for NaNoWriMo and then use my word count to collect and type up recipes (which needs to be done) or NaNoQuiMo and making a full-sized quilt.

stops, blinks at screen Dang, I bet if there was a website and a little attention in LJ, newsgroups, and the occasional store, a NaNoQuiMo (it would have to be NaQuiSewMo, I think) would kick ass. Why do I have all these great ideas which require me to have web skills (which I don't really have) and lots of free time (which I *certainly* don't have)?

Dang, I REALLY like this idea. I just don't know how to implement it. Or what month. Wouldn't be November, of course. ETA: Turns out March 19 is National Quilting Day, so there's already a goal to aim for.

However, you DO know people who have those skills...one of which is trying to boost her resume... :koffCydkoffkoff:

And if you're willing, I'd be happy to dump all the work on you have your help - but take a look at the NaNo site and what it offers and how we'd change that to quilting. Fearsome amount of work there, and it wouldn't immediately impact your resume. Would that still be worth it?

 No, not me...go back and reread...

Sorry, not paying enough attention. I'll let her volunteer if she wants.

Of course, the cheapo way to start would be to start an LJ community...

[identity profile] tchwrtr.livejournal.com 2005-10-05 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, if they're unusual, they would be novel...

[identity profile] neadods.livejournal.com 2005-10-05 05:25 pm (UTC)(link)
NaQuiSewMo, probably - which takes us even farther from NaNo's "hey, that's MY copyright!" area anyway.

You WOULD have to point this out to me...

I do have a novel outlined around here somewhere...it's a murder mystery, even.

Should I do this? :waverwaver:

It doesn't cost anything to join and they don't throw tomatoes at you if you don't finish. Sure, go for it!

[identity profile] hildy.livejournal.com 2005-10-05 06:57 pm (UTC)(link)
We'd have to get a really good deal on tomatoes for that. 30,000 signed up last year as I recall and nowhere near that amount make the victory lap... that's a lot of produce there!

*is crazy and signed up yet again*

What impresses the heck out of me is that they had 21 people the first year - a mere 6 years ago - and now they're up into the tens of thousands.

Ya know that November also tends to be Art by the Inch month too which would get that quilt made.
