A Brief Shriek of Aural Anguish

I thought the "American" accents in Land of the Dead were bad? They're nothing on the horror of the "Southern American" accents in Minuet in Hell!

You haven't seen real hell until you've seen a college production of "Our Town". Even going to school in New Hampshire no two students had the same accent.

On the other hand, Miranda Richardson in The Apostle is so good that the other actors were coming up to the director and asking him where he'd found that amazing local actress.

Oh, dear. And the sad part is, Southern is generally what Brits find easiest. There's so often a twinge of it even in attempts at a "generic" American accent.

Land of the Dead doesn't bother me too much, because with Tulong and the other Native guy you can chalk it up to bilingual/bicultural/whatever. Although I physically cringe every time when Tulong says "I'll catch you up." As for Brett, well, he's just weird. And his isn't too bad anyway.

We have the first seven, and I've listened to them all twice now while working on costumes. Must get more...

*laughs* Oh yeah. Especially 'Becky Lee' from 'Los Angel-ez' *rolls eyes* Silly people!

But it does have the Brig. And some good lines. (And did I mention the Brig?)

Hi! I saw you friended me (something I check a lot more now that I've had to go under lockdown) and popped over...

And since I *just* finished Minuet in Hell today I figured it was Kismet.

That was just...I mean...there really are no words, are there? The accents..the horrible demon who was trying so hard to be Skip from "Angel" and failing miserably. Crazy Doctor rambling in a totally boring way and a plot that, upon much reflection, still makes no sense. The only two interesting bits were being told that Charley was "dead" and Alister, whom I had barely heard of. LOVED him.

I hope to wipe the entire experience from my brain, and iPod, very soon.
