"Whatever Happened to Sarah Jane, pt 1"

I'm squeeing fit to knock bats out of the sky! THIS is what it's all about! I've been yelling "Yes!" so enthusiastically and so often that it probably sounds like I'm doing something quite different than watching TV alone.
But - YES! YES! YES!
Yes! Alan gets to show off!
Yes! Clyde starts getting attention! Alan's giving him boarding advice (even after Clyde is very teen-like and blows him off as "too old") and he's an equal part of the pictures. Plus, Maria has phoned him often enough to have his number memorized.
Yes! Sarah Jane gets told off for how she blew off Alan and Maria on their first day.
YES!! The UNIT book!
Yes! I love that Andrea sort-of looks like Sarah Jane. (Actually, I kind of liked Andrea as a character, at least until she went sort-of evil.)
Yes! Maria can command Mr. Smith on her own! Well, when he exists.
Yes! "Off to the library." All things are good when people read books. This is a Cosmic Truth, yes.
And yes, I'm still amused that Sarah Jane is a better mother to Maria than Luke. That's one of the things that rings true-est to me in light of what a very 70s feminist Girl Power old-school Sarah was; she's just better with her own gender. (Yes, I know where some of y'all are going with that, but I cling to my 10/Jack/Sarah Jane & Doctor/SJ fantasies.)
"I forgot what I did that day" - Oh, I got a chill!
People in mirrors. That never gets old.
Hands up everyone who cheered when Alan picked up the box. Okay, except for the following waste of 10 seconds of silly camera angles and sillier faces.
Please don't be like Kudlak and fumble in the second half, please, please, please...
Is there somewhere that's doing screenshots of the episodes? (Besides the SJWAS, I mean.) Because I need several new wallpapers now.
And another question - how the heck does Sarah water those plants up in the rafters? (Not a spoiler, it's just part of the set dressing that I noticed.)
The Sarah Jane Wardrobe Appreciation Society has spoilers for the SJA audio The Thirteenth Stone. I'm totally looking forward to getting my copy. 'Did you do medieval history?' 'I've certainly "done" medieval,' I said. BWA!
Fic Recs from the morning roundup:
The Knitting Lesson This is an S3 version a knitting story (see my unrelated Knit Two Together), where this time it's Jack with the needles - having done recuperative knitting in the wars - and teaching Martha to knit. Not to mention begging to show her his balaclava.
