2008 DC-area Festivals and cons of interest (well, to me)

It's patently ridiculous that trips to the Met are so desired and exotic, while trips to the Smithsonian are too much bother. New resolution for 2008: Pay more attention to the home town!

I have never been to Eastern Market yet, or Adams Morgan farmers' market.

Folks in the DC metro, Del-Mar-Va, and portions of PA area: What's fun to see, where's good to shop, what's good to eat? History, novelty, and oddities like street fairs and festivals most desired.

I could happily spend a week of my life lost in the Smithsonian. I went to DC with my family when I was in 8th grade, and as far as I'm concerned, it was the highlight of my trip. I absolutely would go back again, and again, and again!

My brother and family live back there and I'd love to go back and take a tour of all the historic sights. I was out there in 1989 when my brother worked in the House of Represenatives as a legislative aide and more recently, two years ago, when he got married. Unfortunately I got very sick from stress and spent most of his wedding reception at Mount Vernon in the car sleeping. Then we had to fly home that night. But I'd love to go back with my hubby and go to the Smithsonian and Historic Williamsburg.

Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival, Howard County Fairgrounds, first weekend in May.

There's fiber! And knitting tools! And food! And it's free!

Oh, and the Bradley Blvd. Greek festival that I'm so fond of! Will update.

Although, the last time I went to the Festival, I was kind of disappointed. On the other hand - the food was nice!

You *know* you're welcome here anytime, and will always have a pickup from amtrak/metro and crash space, don't you?

Am kicking around the idea of heading in your direction sometime in June, to catch the superheroes exhibit and maybe a market or two.
