It's patently ridiculous that trips to the Met are so desired and exotic, while trips to the Smithsonian are too much bother. New resolution for 2008: Pay more attention to the home town!

Logged so I have all the information in one place; public so you can browse:

Smithsonian Kite Festival DC, March 29

*Cherry Blossom Festival/Japanese Street Festival DC, April 12
*Malice Domestic cozy mystery con Crystal City, Apr. 25-27

*St. George Greek Festival Bethesda, May 2-4
*Sheep and Wool Festival Howard County Fairgrounds, May 3-4

Smithsonian Folklife Festival DC, weekends Jun 25-Jul 6

*Shore Leave sf con Towson (north of Baltimore) July 11-13

*Maryland Renaissance Festival Crownsville, weekends Aug 23 - Oct 19

Takoma Park Street Festival Takoma, Oct 5
*Bouchercon mystery convention Baltimore, Oct. 9-12

*=planning to attend

I have never been to Eastern Market yet, or Adams Morgan farmers' market.

Folks in the DC metro, Del-Mar-Va, and portions of PA area: What's fun to see, where's good to shop, what's good to eat? History, novelty, and oddities like street fairs and festivals most desired.

Tell me the weekends that are left and I'll make it one of them. That's the lovely thing about no particular plans yet...
