I have a (spoiler-based) theory on what the Silence thing might be about,

Do tell! I don't mind spoilers now that the season's over.

so this is actually a plus and not a minus for me.

That's one of the big YMMV things. From my POV - well, Buffy faced vampires & demons every season, but never the same ones, y'know?
