Mulder is being taken to emergency surgery; he has eaten something that was neither edible nor passable.

As he was young and healthy beforehand, he should pull through easily. On the other hand, this is the second time he's put us through the wringer. I honestly don't know what we'll do if there's a third.

It's my experience that they're either trouble-free their entire lives or they're trouble their entire lives. Mulder is obviously aiming for the latter.
