For them what worry about Cat Mulder:

Yesterday I came home, checked on him, fed him, and went back downstairs to catch up on things.

About 90 minutes later, I heard Mickey hissing. I looked up to see her reacting to Mulder, complete with cone of shame, calmly strolling through the living room.

When he was returned to his upstairs residence, it took less than two minutes for him to make another standing jump over the child gate onto stairs leading down without hurting himself or falling. So we took the hint and took down the barrier.

He's still not allowed into the basement, which pisses him off. He still has to wear the cone of shame (which he keeps trying to groom himself through. We call him Shortbus for a reason).

Tomorrow afternoon the staples come out.

Don't feel bad. Tripod Kitty, the feline amputee, still curls around and vigorously attempts to scratch her chin with the hind leg that isn't there, some 18 months after the operation.

Old habits die hard, apparently.

Glad Mulder's on the mend, though!

Either that or cats as well as humans are subject to phantom limb syndrome.

That was my first thought.

Doesn't excuse Mulder, but I suppose if force of habit is greater than his ability to learn from mistakes...

Dunno... it's possible, I suppose. I've never caught her trying to groom it, though, and she has completely altered her gait to accommodate her, um, newly triangular nature.

Hey, *you* named him Mulder. ;-) Glad he's recovering well.

Pic is of our own late IQ-challenged kitty, Satin. We used to call her Movie Star because she was gorgeous, needy & dim.

I didn't - he's Mo's cat. Otherwise I would have named him Ianto, and in the long run that wouldn't be the right name at all.

*snicker*

So glad

Mulder's on the mend.

He's picking up alien transmissions through the cone, you know.

So that's why he looks so blank now; they're gone. He got de-stapled and de-coned last night. Spent most of his time getting a proper groom in.

I feel somewhat relieved that cats do know how to jump child gates, Bilbo can't figure out ours at all. He just sits by it and meows until one of us opens the gate for him to walk through.

Mulder and Gytha are rather vertical cats. None of the others would have jumped it.
