And life goes on... Request to knitters

I miss DB most reading email. When I'm at the computer and there is no insistent skull bonking me from behind, demanding petting. When I check my email in the mornings; he used to be there, again demanding petting.
He was so jealous of the computers.
Also, I only have one furry shark circling me when I eat ice cream now. He and Gytha fought over ice cream (she got the spoon, he got the bowl).
In the rest of my life, I've discovered that one of my bright ideas simply wasn't, and now that it's an expensive failure, I'm trying to figure out what to do with the supplies. Long story short: First time I went back to London (that's, what, 4 years ago? Five? Anyway) I decided to get 49 skeins of yarn. I'd knit them up at the rate of one a week, and a year later I'd have a souvenir lap blanket.
Worked in theory.
The biggest problem was that I chose Rowan Tweed for the yarn. I like the colors. I LOATHE the feeling on needles. It's like knitting twine (and this from someone who does a lot of work with kitchen cotton, which is very unforgiving.) 4-5 whatever years later, and I've got four squares done. 4!
It's time to admit that the idea didn't work. But what do I do with the yarn now?

Date: 2011-03-30 01:08 am (UTC)BTW, I just bought Kay Gardiner's Mitered Crosses pattern, the one she's selling for Japan. It's a great pattern - I think it just got bumped to the top of my project queue.

Date: 2011-03-30 02:02 am (UTC)This is the stuff sweaters can be made of.
(And I've got WendyKnit's Japanese Summer Shawl at the top of my queue, followed shortly by that blanket of which you speak. Nevermind all my current projects--I want to do those now!)

What are the colors? "Twine-ish" sounds exactly right for my occasional macrame-a-cat-toy forays...

Date: 2011-03-30 03:05 am (UTC)Colors are pale blue, dark blue, dk brown, ccream, lt green, I think a pale pink... I need to check 'em all. One skein ought to do you a good toy or two.

Date: 2011-03-30 04:22 am (UTC)FWIW, I still miss not having Tybalt walk up me in bed and purr (and drool) in my face.

Date: 2011-03-30 10:31 pm (UTC)I'm flogging it on my own LJ at the moment, if you're *ahem* interested.
FWIW, I still miss not having Tybalt walk up me in bed and purr (and drool) in my face.
Grief takes its own time. I'm missing him more each day, but... the original him. Not the bony old man who resented his meds and had started to drool himself.
