More on the Rowan Tweed (mostly)

It is the practice of our vet to send a condolence card after a euthanasia; DB's arrived today. I don't know if they were making an educated guess or if they dug through the records they'd inherited from his second owner's vet (back when he was named "Howard," to which he did not respond. But he'd come running if I called "DB! Deebers!")
They had a birth year for him, which made him 17. That's a good innings for a cat.
Anyway, this is supposed to be a post about yarn. I've dug up the Rowan box and found the colors online:
Page 1 colors:
- hedgerow
- navy
- denim
- toast
- reed
- rush
Page 2 colors:
- powder
- sweet pea
- mango
- oats
I haven't counted balls-per-color yet (remember all of these have already been wound into center-pull balls and corralled in yarn bras. This is ready-to-knit immediately.) If/as people express interest, I'll find out how much of each color I've got. All colors coordinate; that was sort of the point.
Two of the skeins have been knitted into squares already; they could be carefully pulled out and reballed, though. (Another two - one of the oat ones and one of the mango ones - are squares that will become bunnies for
faireraven's Bunny.)
Let me know if you're interested. We're talking a 70% silk, 30% cotton washable yarn (with almost 0 give to it).

Date: 2011-03-31 12:42 am (UTC)17 is indeed a good long life for a cat, and a tribute to your good care as well as DB's good fortune.
He and our Christopher were similar-- gentleman cats who were first on the scene but accepted newcomers, with a sigh if not always with open arms. Good-hearted boys, much missed.

Date: 2011-03-31 01:07 am (UTC)It's getting harder for me day by day, not easier. I hadn't realized how skittish the rest of them were until there wasn't one who could be picked up and petted.
Still... I cling to the idea that out of 17 years, I gave him nigh onto 12. He was always afraid he'd be off to owner #4. I could tell.

Ooooh, what pretty colors! Consider me DEFINITELY interested in the yarn. What kind of price do you thinks you'll put on it?

Date: 2011-04-04 10:52 pm (UTC)...That it would give me some grin and giggle $$ right when I'd want it doesn't hurt either.
But if you're in a hurry to get it on needles, I can start counting.

Date: 2011-04-02 11:21 pm (UTC)I got about a 9" square with several yards of yarn left over.
There are 5 sweet peas and 5 balled Hedgerows plus one knit into a square but never cut - so the entire skein's worth can be picked out and reballed.
Let me look at my crazy schedule - if you're not in a hurry, I can try to get up there in about 3-4 weeks.

Date: 2011-04-03 02:39 am (UTC)No need to pay in advance! I'll set the sweet pea and the Harvest aside, and probably bring the whole box so you can take a look at the rest of it.
