I Don't Fucking Think So

I came home to a call from the chimney company saying that they'd done the work today, so please pony up the sizeable amount I owe them.
Really? REALLY? Not a mark on the property, not a thing changed outside, and nobody to let you in to do the work inside the house? I'm quite *sure* you want me to pay four figures for dickall, but what you're getting is me picking up the phone to explain in no uncertain terms that this was Not Happening.
The woman who asked for the money says she based it on the contract, which does say work may have started by now. I explained that the work could not possibly have been done and that the company gets diddly until there's any proof that the work has been done. Like, say, me letting them in to do the work inside, that would be encouraging.
The guy who theoretically did the work and who not theoretically set an appointment with me for the 17th is supposed to call me back Real Soon Now.
ETA: And because this is "try to rip off Nea day," in my mail is a bill for $142 from the doctor who didn't know what was wrong with my throat. I've already left a message with the billing department saying that my insurance has sent me the paperwork saying they'd paid the claim, so WTF I don't think so!
