Book Stuff

I remember solemnly swearing that the next time I went up to The Book Thing, I'd tell somebody. Said somebody owes me a smack upside the head, because I can't remember who it was and I went up today on an impulse. (Until late Friday, I thought I'd be working this weekend, so I didn't make plans in advance.)

Wow. I've been going on Sundays, but I must say, Saturday just after opening is the time to be there. I had to take three trips to my car to haul all the books. (Many of which were knitting books. The knitting books were all gone within the hour, and it wasn't just me taking them.)

Mind you... I had to park a block and a half away, and Saturday just before opening has been described to me like a scrum equaled only by the MediaWest Feeding Frenzy...

I'm also still enamored of the Little Free Library idea. I couldn't think of a good reason to put one up, though, or a good place, until Mo pointed out that there's a regular bus stop and a high school bus stop right in front of the house. So now I'm really tempted to get one set up by the front steps and seed it from the Thing.

About 100. Although, the vast bulk of it wasn't books per se - you count the magazines too, and someone had donated a massive amount of cooking magazines.
