Still hurts, obviously. Still got a big hole in the nail.

Not getting swollen, streaky, red, or runny 5 days later, so although there is still a clear dark mark the doctor must have been right about it being wood stain rather than remaining wood. Which makes me half wonder if I got all the wood out myself, and just assumed that it was still there because of the stain and the pain.

Typing is getting better. Tapping the finger end on or nail first is still OMGAIIIEEEEEKILLMETHEPAINNNNN but not as bad as it was 5 days ago, or 4 days, etc. Leaving it exposed is forcing both it and me to toughen up.

I find myself capitalizing "doctor" every time I type it out of habit.

Glad it's starting to heal. If your doctor OKs, it might be helpful to soak it in Epsom salts or the like every day or so.

Thanks for the update-- I was about to ask. At least it's not infected. Hope it heals quickly and uneventfully.

The dark mark may stay there for awhile, like a tattoo. I have a spot under one of my nails that is a result of an accident making a change to a steelpoint etching that already had ink on it.

You can still just see the mark on that palm where I got a little stone in a cut when I was 7.

That's great to hear. I was concerned about it. I would surely have succumbed to the desire to put a plaster on it though.

Well, that's good and promising news!

I still have a mark in my palm from where I managed to stab myself in the hand with a pencil during a middle-school assembly, so I wouldn't worry *too* much about that, as long as everything heals nicely.

Yeah, I've still got a faint stain on that palm from an accident when I was 7. Now I just want the nail to re-grow!

I am glad to hear it's easing gradually.

(I try to make myself type GP instead of doctor so I don't end up with 'Doctor' instead!)

I don't always remember, mind - since typing "Doctor" is so engrained...

Glad to hear it's getting better (or at least not worse) and that you don't seem to have anything left that would necessitate another trip to the doctor for a second extraction session.
