Random Kitten Blathers

Mulan, who had started out so shy and ready to hunch up and hiss at everything, has grown so casually bold that today when Kaylee challenged her over the cat grass, Mulan whacked her on the nose. Whereas Idris, who still wants to Know and See All The Things has started to crawl over to M and I to use us as mattresses.
Speaking of mattresses, when Gytha was little and wanted to share the bed (already occupied by me, a disapproving DB, and Mickey, who hated her), my body became the demilitarized zone between cats. I wondered if it would be that way again when I let the kittens loose for the evenings over the weekend.
Friday night, it was a changing of the guard; whenever I woke up to roll over, it was either Gytha leaning on my legs or both kittens on my chest.
Saturday night, I thought the kittens were on the opposite side of my legs as Gytha, and reached down to make sure they hadn't shoved their faces under my pillow. Mulder did not appreciate my poking him/handling his head while he was sleeping and he jumped off the bed in disgust.
Sunday, I thought it was just Gytha as I rolled over... until something small and tucked right by the pillow my arm is slung over started pulling its little limbs free one by one. Idris did not particularly mind that I checked that her head wasn't in a bad breathing position. Gytha got disturbed and sat up, but when I called her named and petted her, she settled back down again. So it was back to two cats on either side, with me as the DMZ.
Pretty cozy, at least until Idris decided to sleep in the middle of the bed...
(DB did that. Either he tried to take the precise middle of the bed, or he'd lie on the arm pillow and brace all four paws against me to keep me from putting any of my body on it.)

Date: 2012-08-13 04:22 pm (UTC)We were up in MA the weekend of the big blackout but our place kept power throughout, so we told a friend who had none to move in for the duration. He reported waking up in the morning to 4 sets of eyes staring at him from various positions on the bed.
Have a baby picture of Vir.

Date: 2012-08-14 06:43 pm (UTC)Last winter it never really got cold enough to need the additional warmth, or maybe I just shut Dizzy into my room with me a night or two. Have to see if we get a proper winter this year -- no idea what it'll do to have added the kittens to the mix if I wind up sleeping with the door open again.
