No spoilers because I haven't got time right now to do a big writeup (I haven't even written up Malice, have I?) Just: That was proper Doctor Who! After The Doctor's Wife, I didn't think Gaiman could go wrong, and he didn't. Excellent script, excellent casting.

And now I'm going to go back to being wildly distracted by the cognitive dissonance of realizing that Zoe Heriot came from the 21st century.

Yes! It was the most captivating episode this season (for me).

I feel like everybody else saw a different episode than me. :/

There was too much hand-waving, and I was distracted by the guest stars (the carny guy was the evil police captain in Being Human, eek, and dude, Willow.) I got to the end and couldn't figure out why Clara wouldn't marry Willow, er, Porridge. As marriage offers go, that's a pretty good one. I don't really care for the Cybermen, and I've never been a fan of that 'good me/bad me' scenario. ::sigh::

Though I would like to ride the Spacey Zoomer.

All in all: Eh. It was ok. I'm just hoping that the presence of the cybersatellite(?) means that there will be more Warwick Davis in future episodes.

(I loved the last episode unreasonably, and I'm hoping that the previews mean I'll eventually get my Madame Vashtra spin-off.)

I know the feeling of seeing something different from everyone else; see my elementary tag!

I think Clara didn't marry the Emperor because she didn't want to, nor did she like the idea of that life. Fair enough!

Dude, Willow**. ::throws up hands::

(**It's possible I might be biased.)

Actually? I hated Willow. Loved the weary, wary Emperor, though.

I assumed Clara didn't marry the Emperor because people who make proposals of marriage to one on less than 24 hours acquaintance are usually weirdos, and you don't want to wake up and discover you're married to someone who's not only a weirdo but has absolute power over a thousand suns and their attendant planets, and so can certainly make a spouse's life really quite epically hell.

Perhaps if he'd asked the Doctor to faciliate a bit of timey-wimey going out for coffee and drinks dates first on the way back he might have got somewhere.

There's that too.

The Doctor appears to be picking her up and returning her on her days off; perhaps if Porridge came along once... (I did love that character, I'm rather sorry he's probably a one off, never to be seen again.)

I'll watch it tonight, but good to hear. I'm a huge Gaiman fan so I've been anticipating this episode for awhile!
