Has anyone done the homemade dryer sheet thing with diluted fabric softener on a wash rag? Does it work?

I don't use dryer sheets but have used them when I wear long skirts-- rub on stockings and the fabric doesn't cling.

Completely off-topic: I ran across this fic in a fic-rec community on DW, and I think you'd enjoy it. It's based on Homestuck, which is something I know nothing about, but the fic itself is written in the style of fandom_wank, about a fictitious flamewar. OMG the SNARK!
