Stupid pet tricks

I have had three cats that live up to the "cream" cliche and beg while I'm eating ice cream.
DB was allowed to lick the bowl as long as there wasn't any chocolate in it. Then Gytha came along and she started shoving him away. So I trained Gytha to lap a little ice cream off a spoon so DB could have his bowl in peace.
Tonight, I ate ice cream with Gytha and Sherlock in quivering attendance. (Sherlock refused to come last time I offered her ice cream and saw everyone else eating it. She shall not make that mistake again.) I offered the spoon to Gytha, who lapped it up eagerly.
I offered the bowl to Sherlock and I might as well have tried to give her a 1998 Windows technical manual as a treat; she stared at it and me as if this was beyond incomprehensible. She wanted ice cream, yes...
... out of a spoon like Gytha and nothing else would do!
Gytha's a practical cat. I think if she gets the bowl next time she won't care.

Date: 2014-06-04 02:09 am (UTC)I've also seen or heard of cats eating green beans, orange juice, and melon (knocking the melon off the top of the fridge to smash on the floor so it could be eaten-- fortunately that wasn't one I saw personally).
Can't resist adding the kitten I heard of who launched off the top of the fridge and landed in a bowl of dip. You know the kid then went running all over the house and probably hid under the sofa, still covered in dip....

Date: 2014-06-04 05:32 am (UTC)Mystery will spend hours explaining to us that it is six o'clock and thus dinner time, but if you put her bowl in the wrong place she simply *cannot* eat it. She has Standards, and some things cannot be compromised on...
