Another Saturday, another parking lot

We have a pro-choice activist among our anti-abortion protesters. To be honest, she freaks me out more than our regulars, who are being quiet. Frankly, she's giving me the Eeyore vibe despite being on "our side." She's already tried to school us on our jobs twice.

ETA: "Our" protestor wants to be buddies with us and says she's on a mission of support to the clinic owners. I rather get the impression the clinic owner is as dubious as we are.

In the meantime, one of the new antis claims to have previously been an escort, but now waves around a sonogram of her own son. Because apparently her wanted healthy child magically means every pregnancy is wanted and healthy. I shall dub her "Excort."

The whole thing seems to give a legal outlet to people who in days of yore would have stayed inside, thinking horrific thoughts and twiddling their fingers and bothering no one. Society needs a new hobby for its crazy people.

I'm fairly sure some of the Antis at my clinic would not have been at home and quiet, they would have been organizing mobs of one kind or another and having people burned. I'd love for them to have better options, many of them involving medication, but I don't think it's the clinic protesting that is the problem, in and of itself.

She's on the sidewalk doing a counter protest. When she's not talking to us and basically drawing anti-protestor fire for protesting on private property

Ah yeah, the pro-choice protester was there when I did my first shift and I really did not like it. In my opinion, nobody should be protesting outside a medical facility. It's not the place, regardless of whether you're for or against. It's none of anyone else's business.

Still waiting for antis to protest outside a urologist's office against vasectomies. Oh wait, that will never happen.

AGREED. I was trying to put to words how I feel about the whole pro-choice/pro-life protesting thing and you nailed it right on the head. It is difficult enough for women to make informed medical decisions without being under scrutiny from a crowd and publicly called out. That should be between her and her doctor. This is why I feel so icky about it all. It's a medical facility! Not a public forum.

Seriously, take your protests to the capitol or some place that is more of a public forum... If you want to make large-scale political changes, you have to appeal to politicians and the public, not to vulnerable individuals.

I did point out to an anti-choice coworker who smoked that she was also indulging in what she considered "reckless" behavior, but if she ended up with something in her body she didn't want because of it, she wouldn't have to walk a gauntlet to get to oncology.
