sore but satisfied

...no, not like that!
I've spent the weekend in the basement, cleaning. 14 boxes of goods going out for "US Against MS" tomorrow morning, not counting the non-boxables like the heater and the two chairs. (I didn't even count the stuff going to prepare for fair.)
The two huge piles of sheer stuff in my basement are gone. Down to bare floor GONE. I have to clear out under the stairs, move a shelf tower, do some more organizing with the stuff on top of a chest of drawers, and clear off a table, which sounds like a lot, but one of those piles of fabric was as tall as I am and about 4 feet wide. Future sewing and quilt projects are organized for when I feel ready to deal with them - and when I am, I know just where they are and where everything I need is.
Some of it took a moment, like finding my entire pagan library in a box... and putting it almost untouched into Prepare for Fair. Even if I go back, I was more of a kitchen witch than a book witch anyway. Anyone who snots to me that I'm using the wrong colors/scents/chants/etc is going to have to do a wandendectomy from a very embarrasing orifice.
Some of it is not being dealt with yet at all - there are two boxes of "fabric to think about later." But they're much littler boxes.
I hurt like nobody's business from all the bending and dragging and hauling and carrying up stairs. But the last of the big decluttering jobs is done.
Declutter count so far:
- 14 boxes of assd goods for US Against MS
- 18 boxes of books (mostly for AAUW, MS is getting 2 of 'em, but another box is being made for AAUW)
- 8 pairs of intact jeans taken to drycleaner's charity (and two more gone to MS)
- 24 boxes of assd stuff for Prepare for Fair (up from about 12 left over from last PfF)
I'm so used to the stacks that the basement looks wierd now.

Date: 2005-02-14 01:33 pm (UTC)Definately get your quilt projects ready. One of the things I ended up doing was not just organizing all the bits in one place, but also going through the pieces gathered for past projects and doing some hard thinking about whether I really wanted to do them or not. In the end, about half of my previous quilt ideas quietly went bye-bye. (Leaving me with 7 more, mind you!)

Date: 2005-02-14 03:14 am (UTC)I'm still being daunted by the amounts of Stuff that need to be cleared away to make the house capable of being cleaned up for Chocolate Decadence. Hopefully, we won't be in the 2-day Cleaning Frenzy this year... but that means I need to get off my duff and get some of it done already!

YES, please keep them there until closer to the event. I've got baby stuff filtering in that have to find homes for.
