Fangirlism the first: SG-1:
I totally had to rewatch the "Jack introduces the barber to Sam and Daniel" scene about 4 times. Aside from being screamingly funny, they should show that in acting classes on how to deliver 1000 words of characterization in 5 words or less. "Alarm." "I'm thinkin' dog." (I do wonder, however, just how much of that was actually scripted. It had the feel of really good improv, esp. the line about "You could start locking your front door.")

Also? Michael Shanks has incredible onscreen chemistry with anyone. Put him together with Naveen Andrews! No, wait, don't, because if you do, millions of fangirls will explode from estrogen overload.

Fangirlism the second: Justice League Unlimited
I can't believe nobody in my f-list is discussing this - between the Batman/Wonder Woman stifled OTP and the Justice Lords continuing thread, I'm practically running in circles going "Eeep! Squeee! Eeep!"

Damn, I wish I'd been taping all these shows. (Don't have anything that isn't out pro. Yes, silly me.) I have a feeling I'm going to have to throw myself on someone's bootlegged mercy until WB belatedly gets around to maybe choking up boxed sets. It only took them how many years with Batman & Superman (and will we get the Batman/Superman hour? Because that was a kickass set of opening credits.)

Hey, doesn't someone owe me a Batman/Wonderwoman ficlit for charity?

You are a Reasonably Normal Fan. You can talk about
your shows at the office as long as you don't
talk too much about how hot you think Boone and
Locke would be together.

What kind of fan are you?

Boone and Locke? Hello, I'm all about Sayid!

I love JLU. The episodes vary widely, but I still enjoy watching them. They've not only given the Batman/Wonder Woman, now they've given me Black Canary/Green Arrow and reasonably close to the way they were in comics.

I really wish they'd get around to releasing the season sets already for this series. Everytime they release a dvd, the episodes aren't in order and they're missing half of the ones I'd want...

I have no idea what gibbon is in charge of WB marketing. They launch an episode or two, but it took them forever to get around to doing box sets of Batman & Superman.

C'mon, people! I have a credit card, I have a job. I want complete box sets right now of all Batman, all Superman (including the episodes from the Bman/Sman hour), all Batman Beyond, and all JLs. Like, now.

Hopefully, the sales for the current box sets will get it through their heads that the market is for complete versions, not these dribs and drabs.

...In the meantime, don'tcha just love what they're doing with Batman and Wonder Woman? They'd make a great couple if he could give it half a chance. (And considering her feminist proclivities, he oughta be glad she hasn't just knocked him over the head and carried him off for a wild weekend!)

I really believe the decisions about JLU are being handled by someone else in DC/Warner Bros food chain. Unless they're going to wait until all the Batman and Superman stuff is released before getting to the Justice League sets... *sighs*

I love their scenes together. "I'm a rich kid with issues. Lots of issues." Yes, Bruce, we *know*. In the cartoon verse, I can believe a relationship could happen, if they could get past their collective baggage. In the comics version, no way in Hades!

Have you read [livejournal.com profile] marag's Batman/WW fic? "Hesitation Change" actually nudged me into watch JL. She has a few others.

In the cartoon universe, considering that Batman is a much lighter character than in the comics (animated Bruce still retains a sense of humor!) a relationship is very possible. Especially since it's been made so clear that he DOES care, deeply, he just can't bring himself to take that final step.

That was a great line, though. Sums it up nicely.

I haven't read any of the fanfic or really gone looking for the fandom online. Will check out the recommendation right after lunch, thanks!

Where do I find the rest of Marag's fic? I really liked that piece. Any good JL/JLU archives?

[livejournal.com profile] marag should either have most of her fic either in her memories or at fanfiction.net. She used to have a website but it was hacked awhile back. The other two stories using Batman & Wonder Woman are "You're only human, second wind" and "You Never Forget".

I'd have to dig to find a good archive. There is [livejournal.com profile] jl_fic, but the quality varies obviously.

JLU is really incredible. That and Teen Titans are our regular Saturdays night shows. It's fun to try to figure out who's voicing who. LOL

And I do love seeing all the different characters pop up. And the way they are interpreting them is really awesome too.

It's ironic - I can't get enough of JL (especially right now, as something has gone *ping* and is suddenly applying new fandom obsessions even though I've been watching Batman/Superman/JL all along).

And yet Teen Titans gives me a rash. I just can't get into it.

I understand this completely. I've tried. I've sat and watched nearly a full episode and I can't seem to be as gosh-wow as some of my friends. I do occasionally do an "oooh" fangirly moment when I recognize something they've taken from the comics, like Raven's future, but still... meh.

I think it's the cute factor. It was funny for one ep in JL (I laughed myself sick over that one) but I wouldn't like a diet of it.

That was indeed an amazing SG-1. I watched it with my 9 year old who got very amusingly confused by it. I also rejoiced in being such a geek I could tell her and my husband that we were getting to watch Homer Simpson in the flesh.

God. In. Heaven.

That's enough to distract me from Brian God Damned Kinney, who has been monopolizing my waking thoughts for the last three weeks.

True. But what we really need is for Andrews and Shanks to be in some angsty slashable buddy show to get the full explosive impact. Smallville Sentinels or something.

I apologize for asking you this

in a completely unrelated post. It's just that I'm truly looking for information and didn't want to add to problems already present where I read this.

In ginmar's journal you wrote:

Rape fantasies != sublimation/acceptance of pedophilic rape
BDSM != acceptance of or interest in abuse.

Could you explain this? My e-mail address is nykterida13@yahoo.com if you would rather discuss this somewhere else. If not, I apologize for bothering you in your journal.

OT is hardly the word for it, but whatthehell. I'm more or less out of the closet.

"!=" is programmer for "not equals" Back in the original context, someone was insisting that everyone in the kink scene had some abusive trauma, often rape (she only implied the pediphilia) that they were playing out in the scene. So what I said literally was "Rape fantasies are not equal to having been raped, practicing BDSM is not the same as having been or wanting to be abused." (There are lots of classes on where to draw the line between S&M and abuse, in fact. People in the scene are hypersensitive to the thought of being classed in with abusers.)

De nada, you didn't make anything difficult and I appreciate your asking. I'm still kinda responding to the original conversation, where the line between abusers and kinksters was deliberately erased - which would horrify every kinkster I know.

I'm almost afraid to look. Sometimes it amazes me how willfully ignorant people can be.
