A little early (and I haven't so much finished the quilt as wrestled the contrary bugger to a standstill - but I will have it finished by the end of the weekend, so it counts) this month's resolution checklist:

The beginning of March was a turning point in the resolutions - February was the last of the major decluttering tasks. Yay, that's all over!

If 2004 was the Declutter Period, then 2005 is turning into the UFO Year. (UFO in the alt.crafts.textiles.quilting sense, meaning "UnFinished Objects.") If I can keep up with the schedule, I will have read down the TBRs to a reasonable level and I will have completed at least 5 of my quilt projects and set up the 6th to be ready to go in 2006.

THE TIME KILLER HAND WORK PROJECT (NEW)
And the winner is -- cutting patches for the 2000 patch quilts. (Long story short, bought a set of 2000 patches for a y2K quilt. Am cutting those patches down for use in a watercolor quilt and a colorado stripe quilt. It's quiet, portable, and gets an obviously overdue project back on track.)

EDUMACATION (NEW)
After a serious purge of my TBR books this month - I broke down and culled them not on "do I want to read this sometime" but "if I pull it out of the stack now, will I even remember I owned it by the next book count? Will I remember that this book exists?" - I decided it was time to Do Something about the 18 books comprising a self-study class on Tudor history from Henry VII through the death of Elizabeth. So, after Shore Leave and the Harry Potterathon but before the renfaire (and when I'm coincidentally hanging around Stratford for a week), I'm going to start said self-study at the rate of at least one book a month. The "final exam" will be to write one or more magazine articles at the end, topics to be decided later. (Not Henry's wives. Religion in the Renaissance is looking like a goodie for Renaissance Magazine, and will give me practice for the missionary project.)

AUGUST
You'll notice that the big list of missionary-related books to read is gone. Turns out, either they didn't cover the correct time period, or they were so general as to be useless. (Pilgrim Path tells the story of the missionary ladies, yes - but as third-person history without one direct quote or a bibliography in the back to tell me where to find the context. This makes them about as useful for my project as reading James Herriot's Cat Stories - amusing, but utterly beside the point.) So, while August remains Missionary Month, the directive has changed.
