*Sigh*

The inevitable comparison has evited: Southern Baptist Press equates the gay marriages in Massachusetts with 9/11.

This is a day that will live in moral infamy. The attacks on Pearl Harbor, New York and Washington awakened the nation to peril and called citizens to action. That must happen once again, as millions of Americans must now awaken to the fact that an out-of-control judiciary and an army of social engineers are forcing their will upon us.

As opposed, say, to an army of Christian soldiers forcing their religion on our judiciary by legislating God's Plan For Marriage(TM)? Hell, I'm straight and I still won't buy that party line! Although I'd like to be married, I'm not doing it so I can raise kids the American Way; there's no diamond big enough to endow me with maternal interest.

As for Massachusetts, I've been checking Google News and I have yet to see smoking buildings, bodies, bloodstained citizens staggering from wreckage, or frantic friends posting Have You Seen posters. The only "bombing" that's taking place is in bars and completely metaphorical. Even without my tarot deck, I'm making an open bet that no healthy het marriage is going to shatter apart over this.

Hands up everyone who wants to see a Constitutional Amendment forbidding the use of 9/11 as a comparison to whatever social change puts the author's knickers in a twist.
