Small Satisfactions & Sewing Stuff

Just before the new year, I not only emptied the many weeks' worth of trash out of the garage (we kept having windstorms, and I don't like putting out the trash in a high wind), I went down in the basement and got rid of the 3 years' accumulated cardboard boxes.

...and then they didn't pick up the damn trash for a week!

But when I came home yesterday, that pile was gone, gone, gone! Huzzah!

That's satisfaction #1. #2 is being in a position where I can seriously consider going to this expo. I stumbled over it while trying to find digitizing classes, and while none of the classes offered is for beginning digitizing, there's some mighty fine stuff being taught. It's just a pity that my annual pilgrimmage to Williamsburg for the quilting fest doesn't have any embroidery classes, although it has plenty of vendors selling machine embroidery patterns. (It's also a pity that it's not actually in/in walking distance of old Williamsburg this year. I'm thinking of extending my visit for a day so I can take a walk up those oyster-shelled paths and do a little shopping.)

Now that I've got Poohcifer, I want to get the most out of it. That means embroidered clothing and quilts.

Revenge of my youth!

TV Shows on DVD has just announced that The Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys mysteries are coming to DVD on March 22.

My emotions are a melange. First, I'm happy, because I loved 'em to cheesy death. Hope they release the second season too. Second, I'm conflicted, because in my lifetime having the hots for Frank Hardy has gone from "He's too old for you" to "Cradlerobber!" And third, it means I am no longer special. Many moons ago - around 1995-6ish - I had a brief career in the fandom of children's book collecting, culimating in getting to personally be on panels with Joyce Brotman (creator of the show) because I was the only one in all of the fandom to have an almost complete set of the shows on videotape. I even made her copies!

Someone got bored and made up a knitting pattern for a uterus. Someone else is seriously considering a pro-choice protest focused on "It's my womb and I'll do what I want to" based on 'em.
