Reading is educational. Reading ingredient and nutrition lists is particularly educational. There's an f-locked post in my reading list today that compares the ingredient list of Extra Strength Excedrin and Excederin Migraine, for example, and discovers they're the same thing in different bottles.

For me, the epiphany was in the grocery store. Yogurt's good for you, right? Low fat yogurt is considered a health food, right? Compare the nutrition label to Dannon All Natural yogurt to Kozy Shack Chocolate Pudding sometime.

Suffice it to say, I am totally no longer apologizing for eating the occasional chocolate pudding.

M's kitten (now a fat, opinionated cat) is on Kittenbreak!

Pity they didn't post one of the photos of her carrying her ball of yarn; it was the funniest sight.

[livejournal.com profile] wendymr's latest is a Jack/Doctor post-Utopia smut fic: Wrong.

Sorry about the spam but - does anyone know how long it takes for Adventures in Time and Space to update? There's a screencap from Utopia that I'm desperate to have. Tried asking in one of the comms, but the mod didn't think it was on topic.

Pointers on taking screencaps from .avi files also helpful...

ETA: Thanks for all the advice! I've figured out how to catch it out of VLC. (Gee, this is fun! I might jump on the screencap recap bandwagon.)

The icon has nothing to do with this post: I just got it and I'm taking it for a drive. And after I hit "post" I'm going to bed, so you're safe from yet more spam from me tonight. Been a slow day: that always drives me to LJ.

This is the food post, since I'm spending much time working on my personal cookbook, dividing recipes into microportions. And playing with my new Bento boxes. I'm posting here because I know at least one other person on the f-list who is interested. So:

Oatmeal Pancake Recipe )

Bentos. Or "How to serve up proper portions of a variety of foods and get them to and from the office." To make a long story short, the Washington Post had an article on Bento lunches. This is something that has interested me for a while; now that I'm trying to regulate my diet the ability to serve up specific, proper portions in enough size to actually keep me full became important.

What I bought and what I'm doing with it under the cut )

I'm going to cautiously give this a thumbs up. Easily portable, fillable the night before, and as long as the 4 containers cover the 4 food groups, I'm good.
