Pondering

Would anyone be up for an afghan knit-along with me? It would be vaguely based on the Warm Up America pattern, meaning anyone wanting to do it would knit 1 35-stitch x 59-row (plus cast on & off) block per week. 49 blocks, and then we sew that bugger together and use it/give it away/give it to charity/shove it in a closet and never speak of this again.

I'm thinking that setting a goal like that would get me to actually finish a project for a change (hey, it's working with the Sunday 7!) and having people knitting along would be nice.

If you want a portable project, a single block that size would tuck fairly neatly into a purse or tote. If you've been quietly curious about knitting, or about trying new patterns, this wouldn't be a bad starter project, and if you bought the requisite yarn as you went (say, a ball every other week) then it wouldn't cost too much. *tempt*tempt*

Anyone interested? Knowing my readers, most of y'all could whip up a block while you're watching TV.

People have said yes! The Knitalong will happen!

... in October. I head for Italy in a couple of weeks (and you're about to be a captive audience all about *that* starting this weekend).

They've announced a lot of the new Who tie-ins on Amazon.co.uk. In addition to Martha being the book companion tie-in while Donna is onscreen, I've noticed something else unusual: all of the non-DW tie-in stories announced so far are audios, not books.

I mean, in November we get The Thirteenth Stone and The Glittering Storm (both read by Lis) for the Sarah Jane adventures, and in February they'll have In the Shadows, Everyone Says Hello, and Hidden for Torchwood (read by unlisted members of the cast), all of them advertised as "Audio Exclusives". The only mention of a book is "Torchwood Novel 4" which you can click for more information when Amazon.co.uk has a clue.

But Who goes on in book format:
Just now there's Sick Building, Forever Autumn, and Wetworld.

The day after Christmas (hey, kids, you get an IOU in your stocking!) there's
The Pirate Loop, Wishing Well, and Peacemaker.

And in May there's Martha in the Mirror, Snowglobe 7 and The Many Hands.

And randomly, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes there's the funny story of a goth girl and the bat that got into her house.
