Although I have an offer of private transport that I'll be working out in email/by phone, I want to know what my solo options are, because either coming or going, I'll be doing it on my own.
The Crowne Hotel says that it is half a mile from the "River Road train station." This does not appear to be a station on Amtrak, Metra, or CTA.
On the other hand, Google maps tells me it's a straight shot down the road (for an unknown amount of walking) from the Rosemont metro station on the Blue line.
Now, if it's just a case of walking three blocks from Union Station to the Clinton stop, riding Metro to Rosemont, and then walking about another half mile down the street to the hotel, then I'm in jam. I'd be doing it in daylight coming and going - and if I come in that way, I'll know exactly how much time to budget on Saturday to get back. That amount of walking is no problem at all.
Thing is - is it only half a mile-ish from Rosemont? Or is River Road some other station entirely? Is a fat white chick with a backpack going to be safe trotting around those areas on Friday morning and Saturday evening?
