The links were taken from [livejournal.com profile] twistedchick, and [livejournal.com profile] naamah_darling; the subject is always the same: how educating all people about sexuality and giving women control of theirs is good for *everyone* involved. This isn't rocket science, people - but then, giving women control and teens honest information is, for some stupidass reason, controversial in this country.

Feminism Without Clothes discusses why women having control of their sexuality is good for men.
Figleaf on Passionate Feminism in Heterosexual Relationships
And the Post points out that teens who have sex early aren't delinquents

The religious right makes a huge stink about evolution teaching kids that "they're just animals," then turns around and tells girls who have sex that they're used chewing gum. (No, really, that's one of the abstinence things. Have one kid chew gum, then point out that nobody else wants it... so keep your knees together, girlies, or nobody's gonna want sloppy seconds with you.) Funny how teaching girls they're disposable doesn't do much for them... but teaching both genders that they have worth and self-determination allows them to exercise both.

Fic rec: [livejournal.com profile] honorh with serious old-school LOLs in Kiss Me, Please Kill Me (Ten, Donna; NSFW due to discussion of erotica)
Donna gave him a cold smile over her teacup. "Obviously, this Skinner bloke never knew the joy of giving a good smack to someone who really deserves it. We done here?"

Not from a source official enough to be linkable to Firefox News, but worth the passing on.

[livejournal.com profile] principia_coh received a response from 2Entertain about the wrong R1 commentary in the S3 Doctor Who boxset. Basically, it boils down to "we're so sorry, we should have printed the liner notes to read the names on the commentary you got. We'll be fixing that."

Amazon.co.uk ships to America. And Amazon.com sells region-free players. I'm just sayin'.

My many thanks to the magic fairies. You know who who are and why I'm thanking you.

When word comes from a more official link (still waiting for the BBC comment) I'll post to Firefox News.

John Barrowman shakes that very fine ass and sings in 2 minutes of It Takes Two.

The 1000 Drabbles of Awesome for [livejournal.com profile] lifeonmartha is almost at the 400 mark in a week. WOO! Gettin' back to that tonight and tomorrow. (Y'know the nicest thing about getting the damn house decluttered? Having the time to do fun things like this instead of figuring out how to get rid of knee-deep piles of stuff.)

Fic found while doing [livejournal.com profile] soniclipstick: Dwelling on Might Have Been's by [livejournal.com profile] maymargaret. Harry Sullivan and Sgt. Benton discuss the year that wasn't. A nice old-school story for a new-Who plot.

About Me

For the people going to ChicagoTARDIS:
I look like the icon. I'll probably be wearing either an "Innuendo squad" polo or a black "Bad Wolf" T-shirt and either way, I'll be carrying a light blue tote with "Roma" all over it because I am pretentious trying to figure out what to do with it now I have it. Odds are extremely good I'll be knitting too.

For the people who are following the homekeeping/house clearing/general life remaking saga:
I've decided to sit down with a highlighter and the following books to mark them with the intention of putting them to work for me and rereading them semi-regularly:

Sweeping Changes (Zen and the art of housekeeping. Already quoted heavily on [livejournal.com profile] homekeeping

40 over 40 One of [livejournal.com profile] shawan_7's less subtle shots in the war to get me to completely remake my wardrobe. Some interesting advice there I haven't seen anywhere else.

The Complete Tightwad Gazette I think this woman is completely mental and the prices are laughably out of date - and yet there is a lot of good information, and it gets me in the right headset to live on a strict cash budget.

Home Comforts This is supposed to be THE "taking care of your house" book.

All of that said, I still fiercely resent that I'm spending time shovelling out my library instead of cranking out drabbles for the Martha Drabble tag, or working on my OT3 ficathon fic. But if I stop, I'll lose momentum and then come up with a thousand excuses to not go back. Adulthood sucks. I just keep hoping that 1) I'll make room to write tomorrow and 2) when the huge declutter is done, I *will* have time for the fun things. (Eight weeks to go. I learned about the Seven Items project on January 8; I want to have all the rooms of the house cleared by next Jan 8.)

To end on an utterly random note, I am desperate to see Enchanted, will probably see it opening night, and want to own it on DVD right this very minute.
