I tend to be slightly disappointed by quiet clinic shifts because there's no blogging material. This is not the right set of priorities to have.

However, the weather and conditions (ice over snow, with freezing rain and sleet predicted) kept the quiet clinic quiet on this anniversary of Roe v. Wade. There were six protestors total, but they went in shifts so that we usually only had 4 to contend with at a time. Neither Eeyore nor Father Corelone showed up, so the major whackaloon contingent was missing; Fraulein did come but she was mostly quiet, although she did try to lure down one of our newer escorts so she could talk to him.

About the only story that I have is that the doctor, who is an elderly man, was worried about slipping on the black ice when he went in. So he parked near the entrance - it's a testament to how quiet the protesters were that they let THAT go without comment; we've had to break up doctor/protester almost fistfights before - and I held his stuff and let him hang onto me as I walked him in. (I had snow boots on, so I was pretty secure.)

As a future note to self, putting up my hair and pinning a stocking cap to it wasn't pretty, but it kept my hat over my ears at all times. Also, flannel PJs under sweatpants kept me warm while also giving me more freedom of movement than flannel PJs under jeans did. Also: handwarmers? Mandatory.

I've been catching up on Sherlock fic for the last three days. All 87 stories that fit my criteria. Without spoilers above the cut, I will say that one general plotline is getting right up there with "Catherine and Vincent live happily ever after" and "Sam finally leaps home."

However, in all this fic-from-a-firehose volume, nobody's written the two I'd love most to see: spoilers, sweetie )
