There's a kind of hush....
Dec. 8th, 2013 09:02 am...all over the area as a place that never deals well with snow watches a putative 3 inches start falling gently, beautifully, ahead of schedule.
My plan to stay in and read a library book while wearing PJs has been foiled by the "3 inches followed by sleet" part; I will need, as it accumulates, to go out and use the snowblower at least. And because it has started falling early, I won't be activating my wildass plan to significantly move up the schedule to switch the landline # over to my cell phone when the cell company opens today.Tomorrow after work ought to make no difference
But I still have pot roast from last night, and trifle (ditto) and have already done what
suricattus dubbed "french toast shopping" (eggs, milk, bread, toilet paper) so I'll be fine.
And I really need to finish reading Double Down because everybody in the DC area has requested it so I can't renew it.
Sunday is usually a time for refection for me - remember the Sunday 7? I really, REALLY have to get back to that because when I stop doing it, I stop having the name-and-shame going on and I let myself get distracted. So that's a New Year pre-resolution.
I'm also going to try a new system. (Is anyone as impatient with me as I am with myself for trying and failing at so many new systems? I kind of want to smack myself. BUT I also know that *not* trying until something fits is the true tragic flaw.)
Anyway... The current wildass idea is to apply agile programming/kanban concepts to the stuff that still needs doing around the house. I'm going to look at a calendar and work the nagging tasks into a series of sprints, build a kanban board to see what's going on... and probably post here to keep me honest and on track.
I once managed to get rid of 7 items every week for a year by tracking it here. Surely I can do this? Because my generalized idea of "I can clean up this place in a year!" from last January may have been achievable but it certainly was not achieved!
