Weather sucks and so does life
Dec. 10th, 2013 12:29 pmThe snow may look pretty, but it can't cover up the fact that I've been forced into another day without pay because work has shut down and I don't have the leave for it.
I would have gad enough leave if there hadn't been a furlough, I'm just sayin'.
(And right when I was on the "things aren't so bad!" upswing from ChicagoTARDIS, a little reminder that my earnings are not under my control.)
Things have slowed down enough that I can go out with a shovel and see if there's anything I can do - it's covering the lawn and trees pretty thickly, but the driveway not so much. There's not too much I dare do on the computer until it's over, as the lights have flickered more than once. It's one thing if everything croaks in the middle of my reading a blog; quite another if I was in the middle of an online application or writing.
So I'm mostly taking the day to read through the rest of that library book, the one I can't renew and must return by Thursday.
But I can say that I accomplished one thing. Meet my personal kanban board:

I'd been meaning to get a magnetic whiteboard and hang it in the hall, but of course all but bare minimum sustenance spending is right out again. (At least I have all the Christmas presents!) A bit pleased with myself that I could do all of that with things lying around the house, and let's face it - it's the biggest magnetic white board I could possibly get...
