Two Wierd Questions for Women

Guys, you can play along but if you can answer the first question, you scare me.
1) What is the most comfortable, supportive bra you've ever worn, and where did you get it? I am, in the words of the old joke, looking for a Salvation Army one. You know: Pentecostal bras keep the firm upright, Catholic ones support the masses, Salvation Army ones raise the fallen, and Baptist ones make mountains out of molehills.
2) Name some still-famous female detectives, preferably from the 30s-50s. (This is for a review I'm working on.) Judy Bolton didn't last, but I can come up with Nora Charles, Nancy Drew, Harriet Vane, and Miss Marple. Surely there are more...

Date: 2005-08-17 12:58 pm (UTC)this page has a list (http://www.wright.edu/~martin.kich/DetbyProf/Female.htm) of female detectives... I can't think of any specific names outside of that. No. Wait, Tommy and Tuppence Beresford were a couple in Agatha Christie's books. Tuppence was the wife. Tommy was the husband.

Date: 2005-08-17 04:40 pm (UTC)Body by Victoria at Victoria's Secret is a yummy line--some even came in my (then) size. Unfortunately, I'm outta Vickies size range now...
I also had great luck walking into Nordstrom's lingerie department and asking for help. I tell them what I'm looking for, and they actually helped me find things that fit and were pretty and comfy. Not necessarily a brand per se, but a good fitting experience.
I have also bought at Hecht's (soon to be Macy's), and their prices are decent.
Remember that what feels good to one person may not be what you want, so look for the "good shopping ecperience" rather than the comfy bra. I mean, I'd die without my underwires (even now while nursing I prefer them) while other ladies (like yourself) don't care for the wires.
For a REALLY fun shopping trip, try A la Mode on West Street, across from Ram's Head. Nice ladies. Found me a pretty nursing bra in their small stock, but the rest of the store is very very lovely everyday things.

Date: 2005-08-17 01:41 pm (UTC)Nowadays I wear either unstructured sportsbras (C9 by Champion from Target) or specialty post-mastectomy bras with prosthesis pockets. I was pleased to find that I can still get a seamless, relatively normal-looking bra.

Date: 2005-08-17 01:52 pm (UTC)I haven't been able to wear Victoria's Secret bras in a decade or more, since I got larger than their skimpy idea of a 36 D. Whenever I've checked since then, it's looked to me as if they just changed the labels without actually making the cup sizes any larger.

Catherine, former lingerie consultant, because she Really Liked this bra.
