Book natter, and cooking

I hadn't realized how badly I'm trying to put off reading some review books until I cleaned the pantry. Not that the pantry wasn't in desperate need of cleaning - there was stuff in there with an expiration date of '01 - but I had intended to speed-skim the books I still owe Once Written yesterday. I haven't chosen books wisely and I'm just not interested and the deadline's coming.
I may have to give up OW. I'm getting buried in books, and even though it's the one that pays (which is important) it's also the one that I don't have a longstanding relationship with (RtE) nor does it go out of its way to give me books tailored to my interests (ILMN) nor is the communication as good as it is with both of those sites.
And more than anything, I need to get back to a feeling of being able to read what I "need" to and still have time to read what I want.
As for food - I desperately need to start pulling my finances together *and* lose weight, and step #1 is to stop eating takeout 3 meals a day. I can cook, I even like to cook (just don't ask my opinion of dishwashing). With the vacume sealer and a minifreezer in the basement, I have the options of making my own convenience meals. The new fashion for sous vide even means that I could get away from the advice of the once-a-month cookers, whose menus are unfortunately either based on tomato sauce or cheese sauce.
All I have to do is restock and rearrange the pantry, pick a set of recipes, and find the time to make them. Not a thing to it, really. /sarcasm
