I could surf aimlessly, I could decry that fandom wank has called for a swarm hit on another poor soul for the crime of saying on his own LJ that he doesn't like RPS, or I could make icons.

This is from the NY Library Association. If you like it, take. If you really like it, click the link and order the pin.

You misspelled "troll attack". Every time it seems that my contempt for fandom-wank can't get any deeper, they manage.

It's the same difference, hunting down as an organized mass people who quite perversely cling to opinions that they have decreed should be wiped out.

It's one of the reasons I dropped metafandom. Turns out that fw's got scouts on it, looking for stuff to bash.

I've never been on FW, never even read it, but the very notion sounds to me like nothing so much as the "mean girls" we all knew in jr. high and high school. I simply cannot understand the appeal.

The appeal is, I think, to keep that juvenile rush of hanging out with the in-crowd. Mind you, for all fw's attitude that they're above it all, they're out there creating it as fast as they can - fandom_wank, other-than-fandom wank, wank report, I wank (all groups)... they are what they mock. It's almost zen.

What really got me this time was the attitude of "why do people still dare say things that we disagree with?"

Ah, the neocons of fandom!

And yes, it is indeed exactly like a pack of junior-high bullies. One wonders how many of them were bullies in school -- or were bullied, and are now taking their chance to do to someone else what was done to them?
