neadodsI had wanted to go to the Beauty and the Beast mini-con in Kansas City this year. Even though the honeymoon of "going home again" is fading (and it's been conclusively proven that people are, well, still people no matter what grand ideals they espouse), I feel I have a lot of time to make up for, and I'd really been hoping to meet some new folks.
So I started to make plans, and joined the listserv for info, and dreamed little daydreams about what it would be like. Until I finally paid attention to the minicon dates: July 9 - 11.
Shore Leave weekend.
So much for that! My return to face-to-face Beast fandom will have to wait a little longer - a lot longer if future the BatB cons will be held on this date and the Shore Leave committee and I are still on speaking terms by the end of the con. Which I think we will; I'm getting much more support here, I know the basic job far better, and I'm well ahead of schedule. Even if I did have a silly anxiety dream about it a couple nights ago.
Still, I hold out forlorn hope that BatB fandom will manage to keep the conventions going for a little while longer; at least long enough for me to get to one and see the infamous outtake tape. After all, in only four more years, it's the 20th anniversary... surely that's reason enough for one helluva party?

I'm thinking/hoping to go to Shore Leave this year. Is there a listserv for that?
