How much do y'all love me?
Because I've been thinking all along that I'd fly in Friday night and out on Sunday morning, and do ChicagoTARDIS one day. But *duh,* we get Friday off so I don't have to worry about coming in after working hours, and according to Expedia there's no price difference between flights that arrive in Chicago in Friday morning or evening.
So I'm all for coming in on Friday morning and hanging out with anyone who wants to fetch my fanny from O'Hare and then doing the con on Saturday. (Flying out at a hideous hour of Sunday morning is unfortunately non-negotiable).
So I'm sticking out my virtual thumb to virtually hitchhike and firm up offers for couch crash space.
wiliqueen,
havocthecat, will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64 in Chicago on Thanksgiving weekend?
jennetj,
signeh,
merclibrarian,
momthemerciless, any chance of seeing you?

Date: 2006-06-30 04:26 pm (UTC)Will TardisCon (or whatever it's called) have any one-day passes or passes just for the dealer's room? And where's it located? I'm thinking if you stay with us, we can probably either take you to the con or at least get you to public transport that will take you the rest of the way.
And if you might want to consider coming in on Thursday, you're welcome to join us for dinner. "Us" includes, Jeanne, Linda, Signe, Merle, and sometimes Sherry Henry.
Let me know what you want to do.

Date: 2006-06-30 05:58 pm (UTC)Borg CubeHyatt Rosemont, as I've been thinking, but just a bit down the road). Same place Cretin has had their SG-1 cons the last couple years. It's pretty nice overall, although I haven't seen it configured for anything with real programming going on in more than one room at a time.Con information is here. Looks like there's a one-day, but no dealer's-room-only.
For transportation/lodging strategy purposes...
Airport pickup anytime from about 6:00 Wednesday on is doable for us, as is "taxi" service pretty much anywhere in the northwest burbs or Fox Valley. We're also quite close to the Elgin Metra station, if that comes in handy for any reason.

And I thank you for the gracious offer of a seat at the table on Thanksgiving itself, but the very idea of flying on Thursday gives me horrific rash. Sunday's going to be bad enough.

Date: 2006-06-30 06:13 pm (UTC)I'd love to have a great meal with everyone - but the way the airplanes work on Thursday, I'd probably show up as the last bone was picked. Thank you, though!

Date: 2006-06-30 06:14 pm (UTC)I'd love that. Honestly, it's the idea of meeting y'all and seeing the friends I've already got in town that's attracting me far more than the convention itself. Otherwise, I wouldn't travel on Thanksgiving for love or money. But fandom seems to have an attraction beyond love and money...

Date: 2006-06-30 06:17 pm (UTC)That's my main attraction for the con, right there. Shall we brave it together? :D
I'm thinking "hang out on Friday, con on Saturday, home on Sunday early"
