How much do y'all love me?

Because I've been thinking all along that I'd fly in Friday night and out on Sunday morning, and do ChicagoTARDIS one day. But *duh,* we get Friday off so I don't have to worry about coming in after working hours, and according to Expedia there's no price difference between flights that arrive in Chicago in Friday morning or evening.

So I'm all for coming in on Friday morning and hanging out with anyone who wants to fetch my fanny from O'Hare and then doing the con on Saturday. (Flying out at a hideous hour of Sunday morning is unfortunately non-negotiable).

So I'm sticking out my virtual thumb to virtually hitchhike and firm up offers for couch crash space. [livejournal.com profile] wiliqueen, [livejournal.com profile] havocthecat, will you still need me, will you still feed me when I'm 64 in Chicago on Thanksgiving weekend? [livejournal.com profile] jennetj, [livejournal.com profile] signeh, [livejournal.com profile] merclibrarian, [livejournal.com profile] momthemerciless, any chance of seeing you?

My girls and I have our annual "Malling of Mom at Woodfield" on Friday, but if you'd like to get together on Friday evening that'd be fun. What time are you planning on getting in?

That's what I'm trying to figure out. Expedia tells me that for the same price, I can come in around 8am, noon, or 8pm. I had originally been aiming for 8pm, but if I'm not taking extra time off work and there are folks who are free...

And, of course, I could always go to the con during the day and then come out in the evening. Doesn't look like they've got a lot going on Friday night there.

If you get the flight that lands you at O'Hare at 8:00 pm, Rob and I can pick you up and we can go for a light dinner. I've got a house full, but we will have a couch available if you don't mind that.

Will TardisCon (or whatever it's called) have any one-day passes or passes just for the dealer's room? And where's it located? I'm thinking if you stay with us, we can probably either take you to the con or at least get you to public transport that will take you the rest of the way.

And if you might want to consider coming in on Thursday, you're welcome to join us for dinner. "Us" includes, Jeanne, Linda, Signe, Merle, and sometimes Sherry Henry.

Let me know what you want to do.

:: butts in rudely :: The con is at the Wyndham O'Hare (not the Borg Cube Hyatt Rosemont, as I've been thinking, but just a bit down the road). Same place Cretin has had their SG-1 cons the last couple years. It's pretty nice overall, although I haven't seen it configured for anything with real programming going on in more than one room at a time.

Con information is here. Looks like there's a one-day, but no dealer's-room-only.

For transportation/lodging strategy purposes...[livejournal.com profile] brainiacfive and I are in Elgin, with what at this point is an empty spare room for that weekend. The plan at this point is to commute to the con. We would also happy to have an extra at the table for Thursday, or we could work out getting Nea to our place to crash after eating with you.

Airport pickup anytime from about 6:00 Wednesday on is doable for us, as is "taxi" service pretty much anywhere in the northwest burbs or Fox Valley. We're also quite close to the Elgin Metra station, if that comes in handy for any reason.

*perks up* Dibs?

And I thank you for the gracious offer of a seat at the table on Thanksgiving itself, but the very idea of flying on Thursday gives me horrific rash. Sunday's going to be bad enough.

I'd love to have a great meal with everyone - but the way the airplanes work on Thursday, I'd probably show up as the last bone was picked. Thank you, though!

No prob. I get Saturday off too (amazingly enough). Depending on when you get in, and when programming starts, it might even work to pick you on the way to the con.

We're ~40 minutes west of both O'Hare and the Rosemont Borg Cube.

I'll definitely be at the Con on Saturday. Friday's a bit iffy, but Saturday, definitely. Last year my cohort in crime [livejournal.com profile] nnwest set up a T&C Meet-up on Saturday, so we can probably do that again. :)

I'd love that. Honestly, it's the idea of meeting y'all and seeing the friends I've already got in town that's attracting me far more than the convention itself. Otherwise, I wouldn't travel on Thanksgiving for love or money. But fandom seems to have an attraction beyond love and money...

We're closed on Friday, so I'll definitely be around if you want to "play". Last year [livejournal.com profile] bentleywg and I met up at the dealer's room, then went for lunch. I never did get back on Saturday for the T&C meet-up, but hope to do at least that this year. I still don't think I'll attend as a full member (don't care enough about seeing the guests they're having), but as it's so close, I'm sure I'll do some hanging out.

That's my main attraction for the con, right there. Shall we brave it together? :D

I'm thinking "hang out on Friday, con on Saturday, home on Sunday early"

Some years I go to Michigan for Thanksgiving, sometimes not (and, last year, Michigan came here). If there's a get-together of some sort, I could easily plan to stay here. In other words, we hadn't thought that far, yet. We're still concentrating on August.
